HISTORICAL REVIEW TENERIA EL BUFALO, S.A. DE C.V. In 1915, Don Enrique Arturo Sandoval and
technical graduates joiner (carpenter / quality) of Santa Cecilia
Salesian College, located in Santa Tecla in the department of La
Libertad, where for the problems of the First World War was a professor
from Italy to return to
their country, leaving him in charge of the carpentry workshop and thus
putting into practice their knowledge.
The Salesians at that time had a small tannery,
where he worked them providing maintenance and that's how they developed
the fulling mills for a period of nine years.
At the date of 1 January 1926 at the initiative of Enrique
Arturo Sandoval two men, a visionary young man and his father Don was
born Benjamin Estrada Valiente society called AE Sandoval and Co., the
owner of the company Tenería Buffalo, where they contribute a capital of
5,000 colones each.
Buffalo tanning make their first starts on land owned leather Don Benjamin Estrada Valiente in which there was a small structure of a left benefit and this will greatly assist the process at that time would be used. Mr. Arturo Sandoval turns to his friend Don
Francisco Diotrez, who had knowledge of tanning process for leather
counseling process.
The first product produced by tanning the buffalo
was the sole plant, whose manufacturing process was carried out in
existing batteries in the field and took six months to complete.
In the year 1932, developed the first fulling,
bought the first diesel engine 9 hp, which would be used for the
movement of the fulling mills and one board machine sole. In mid-1934
for the first time is tanned with chromium by the help of a German
company IG Farben, started tanning sheepskin pork, while in the same
year acquired the first router machine.
Buffalo tanning machines imported the first
polish and soften in 1938 and this fruitful year for the company to have
the opportunity to participate in the first exhibition of leathers in
Guatemala City where she presented the final product, for example:
topsoil, sheepskin pork, exotic skins and their first oscarias.
In the period of World War II between 1939
until mid 1948, the tannery Buffalo experiences a period of stagnation
in its progress by failing to imports of machinery from Europe to
America. At the end of
1948 through the rise of the war two machines are imported, a
divide-and-a stark. In the
same year Don Arturo travels to specialize in tanning United States.
In the 50s, takes a modern polishing
machine and a hydraulic press being the innovation in the tannery
industry, a stretch of leather and soles cylinder machines. There is
also the electrification of the Company, and the incorporation of the
sons of Don Arturo Sandoval: Carlos Antonio Sandoval and Rafael
Sandoval, who would come to give the company a new direction. Don
Rafael travels to Germany on a course of tanneries, bringing a wealth of
knowledge and the new way of processing the sole, reducing the
processing time of 6 months to 15 days.
At the end of the decade the company began a
period of industrial development and new chemical processes, buying
machinery that will serve the various processes of leather, and these
components for the manufacture of a product called chamois that
revolutionized the footwear industry (ADOC) For about 20 years.
Between 60 and 70, the company continued
with the same pace of work in progress, until the mid-'70s, when he
designed and built the biggest churn in Central America with capacity of
12 tons of weight for leather tanning, reaching maximum quality
in the country, reaching a leading position as tanneries in the market,
while the Buffalo Tenería becomes a corporation.
From 1991 to 1997, the company is in trouble economically and
goes to the bank.
Since 1997 the Bank negotiated with Mr Guillermo
Adolfo Egan to participate as a shareholder of Buffalo S. Tannery A., achieving the company to
reopen and continue working with great effort and dedication to regain
the market and offer good quality products, starting with a different
administration.
It is precisely this commitment to quality
management leads to certify the company in 2000 in ISO 2006
certification currently preserved in its ISO 2008.
Equally important to have quality, is the respect of a company
by the environment. Tannery The Buffalo currently has a recirculation system chrome
baths, the baths while using high exhaustion. This coupled with the final water
treatment to remove heavy metals from other components, results in a low
water discharge standard.
In the soaking / liming is under way to develop a system of
recirculating baths with hair filtering, for which they are buying the
necessary machinery. Later they were crowded into this water to the standard effluent
discharges.
Over the past two years, and as marked
improvement policy by Don Guillermo Egan, have acquired five new
machines. These machines are stark, drip,
divider, router and a gap of three dishes.
Even today it is proceeding with the construction of three new
mills. One for
soaking and liming and the other two for tanning. These new fulling increased the capacity of the tannery at about
45,000 kilos per month.
